In my quest to infuse color into my living room, I spent a few days over winter break making covers for throw pillows in pretty vibrant prints. I'd only made a pillow cover one other time using this really helpful tutorial from J.Caroline Creative, which has a really handy calculator to make sure your dimensions are correct!
This time around I wanted to 'grow my skills' by learning how to make and add piping...
I used this tutorial from Isabella & Max Rooms to make my first 'piped' pillow! I definitely should have spent time making my own bias tape as opposed to simply cutting a strip of fabric and sewing it around the cording, which would've helped me perfect the corners. However, I think it turned out swell!
Zippers scared me...until I found this simple tutorial from Design Sponge detailing how to add a zipper instead of a back flap pocket (probably not a technical term) which, after following, I became a pillow-cover making machine!
The navy blue floral fabric can be found at Warm Biscuit and all of the other fabrics used to make the pillow covers were purchased at my local Jo-Ann Fabric store. I love the pops of navy, lime green, and teal and think they work well with my weird green-gray-khaki colored couch! Next up, a coffee table makeover...stay tuned!
